ALL BEER FLAVOUR intensity (ABFi):
ALL BEER have developed a unique Flavour intensity (Fi) rating system which helps you look for beers to suit preference or occasion, from the most light and refreshing (Light Fi) to the most intense flavours (High Fi).
Fi should not be confused with with ABV% alcohol strength or level of bitterness. Both affect the total Flavour intensity of a beer but the ALL BEER system records intensity of at least 25 flavour characteristics including perceived alcohol and bitterness levels.
TIP: Look at specific beers SMELL, TASTE and FEEL IT ratings on the Flavour Reference Card of copper highlighted beers to find out more. Intensity ratings for each contributing flavour character are combined to indicate both flavour balance and total flavour intensity of a beer. The figures for hundreds of beers, across many different styles, were used to devise the simplified ABFi Flavour intensity groups.
The ABFi Group Scale is as follows:
Light Fi
1 Ultra Light
2 Light
3 Light Medium
4 Medium
5 Full Flavoured
6 Strong
7 Intense
High Fi
1 Ultra Light
2 Light
3 Light Medium
4 Medium
5 Full Flavoured
6 Strong
7 Intense
High Fi
TIP: YOU CAN USE the Fi tick-boxes to select beer flavour strengths that suit you.
Where ALL BEER have created independent flavour notes, a specific ABFi Group rating is given (1, 2, 3, 4 etc.).
If a beer has not been independently assessed by ALL BEER, a typical ABFi range for the beer style is provided.
